VINE GROWER OF THE YEAR AWARD 2017

Vine Works Vinegrower of the Year Award 2017

The South East Vineyards Association (SEVA), in partnership with Vine Works Ltd, launched the first Vine Works Vinegrower of the Year Award. The aim of the award is to support the winner on a study tour to another wine producing region, anywhere in the world, where they can develop their knowledge and understanding and bring back new ideas and skills.

At the UKVA and SEVA Technical Conference on 25th April at Denbies Wine Estate, a short-list of three candidates gave presentations to the audience, who were then asked to vote for the winner.

The winner was Luke Spalding of Ridgeview Wine Estate, who is also studying at Plumpton College. Luke’s presentation was entitled ‘Direct & indirect canopy management methods to help produce a consistent crop yield in a variable cool climate’. Luke wins £2000 to visit Limburg Region Maastricht, Skåne County, Sweden and Champagne. His report will be available after his study tour.
